Northwest Europe's crossroads of canals, beer, and world-class art

Three countries, one compact region. The Netherlands moves by bicycle and waterway—flat, efficient, irreverent. Belgium punches above its weight with Flemish cities, chocolate, and beer culture that takes itself seriously. France (at least the north) bridges medieval charm with urban sophistication, culminating in Paris.
Most travellers string them together: Amsterdam to Brussels to Paris via Eurostar or regional trains. You can see proper highlights in two weeks, or just camp in one city for a month. The infrastructure is seamless, English widely spoken, and distances deceptively short.
It's expensive by global backpacker standards but reasonable for Western Europe. Food matters here—not as theatre, but as daily ritual. Expect small portions, strong coffee, and rooms that require sideways shuffling.
