Al Forsan International Sports Resort sits out near the Abu Dhabi Golf Club on Street 12, a solid drive from the city centre but well worth the effort if you're after something genuinely different from the usual mall-and-beach routine. The scale of the place catches you off guard — it's a sprawling complex built around an artificial cable ski lake, with motorsport circuits, paintball arenas, equestrian facilities, and a shooting range all sharing the same sun-baked grounds. There's a loosely resort-like atmosphere, though the crowd here skews active rather than leisurely, and you'll find a mix of expats, visiting families, and weekend thrill-seekers rather than tourists ticking boxes. The cable wakeboarding setup is the centrepiece and genuinely impressive — beginners can rent equipment and take instruction, while experienced riders can get serious sessions in without queueing behind crowds. The karting circuit draws a fair number of competitive types, especially on weekday evenings when the temperature drops to something manageable. Dining and café options are dotted around the complex, serviceable rather than spectacular, good for refuelling between activities. Getting here without a car is awkward — taxis are your most practical option, and the journey from central Abu Dhabi takes around 20 to 25 minutes depending on traffic. Dress practically in light, breathable clothing; the sun reflects hard off the water and tarmac, so factor in sunscreen even if the sky looks hazy. Friday afternoons and weekends bring families and larger groups, which can mean waiting for certain activities. Visit on a weekday morning between October and April when the heat is manageable and the facilities are quietest.
