Everland
Yongin, South Koreanature
Everland is South Korea's largest theme park and sits in the rolling hills of Yongin, about an hour south of central Seoul. The scale of the place is genuinely impressive — five distinct zones spread across a wide, hilly site, ranging from the thrills of T-Express (one of the steepest wooden roller coasters anywhere in the world) to the surprisingly enjoyable Safari World, where you ride a bus through enclosures holding lions, bears, and white tigers. There is a seasonal garden component too, and the tulip and rose festivals in spring draw enormous crowds who come as much for the flowers as the rides.
Getting there without a car is straightforward. Take the Bundang or Sinbundang line to Jeondae·Everland station and then hop on the free shuttle bus, which runs regularly and deposits you right at the entrance. Admission sits around 56,000 KRW for adults, though discounts are available through Naver or Kakao if you book ahead — worth doing regardless, as the queues at the ticket windows can be punishing.
Weekends and Korean public holidays genuinely test your patience. Wait times for T-Express can stretch past ninety minutes on a busy Saturday, so arriving right at opening and heading straight to the major coasters is the smartest move. Weekday visits in autumn — mid-October to November — hit a sweet spot of manageable crowds and beautiful foliage across the park. Summer brings the added draw of the attached Caribbean Bay water park, though the heat and humidity can be relentless.
Wear comfortable shoes with grip, as the site is hilly and paths get slippery after rain. A light waterproof layer is worth keeping in your bag year-round.
