About this tour

A three-hour road bike tour from Puerto de la Cruz that builds fitness through climbing. You'll tackle 45 kilometres and 1000 metres of ascent, including a 7 km push to the Humboldt Observatory with views across the valley to the Atlantic, then onwards through Orotava's old quarter and a second 5 km climb to another vantage point. Designed for those new to cycling or testing their legs before committing to longer rides.

Highlights

  • Humboldt Observatory plateau with Atlantic Ocean views
  • Navigate Orotava's historic village streets
  • Two sustained climbs at 5–15% gradient
  • 45 km route with 1000 metres total elevation
  • Small groups, maximum five riders
  • Guide support throughout

What to expect

Expect a steady progression of climbing from the outset. The first half takes you up to the Humboldt plateau via a consistent 7 km gradient—plenty of time to settle into your pace and feel how your legs respond. Once you've caught your breath at the viewpoint, you'll descend briefly into the valley, pass through Orotava's older streets, then face a second significant climb. The final descent brings you back to Puerto de la Cruz. Bottled water is supplied, but bring food if you plan to eat during the ride.

Good to know

Bike rental (aluminium €29, carbon €35, or carbon disc brakes €39) and helmet are separate costs. The guide will contact you beforehand to sort sizing and specifications. Not suitable if you have spinal issues, are pregnant, or have cardiovascular concerns. Requires moderate fitness and stable weather; poor conditions will trigger a reschedule or refund.
