What to expect
You'll spend your days on the bike, typically riding 20–30 kilometres between stops. Each morning you collect your bicycle and head out along the Rail Trail, a flat to gently rolling route through established vineyards. Lunchtime arrives mid-ride; dinner is arranged each evening in town. Winery visits are self-directed—the tasting fees are covered, so you simply roll up, taste, chat with staff, and decide what to buy. A support vehicle follows the route to collect any purchases and ferry your luggage ahead, so you arrive at each night's accommodation without a heavy pack. By day three you'll have a feel for the region's Rieslings and the slower pace of valley life.
Good to know
Bring or hire a bike and helmet (hire available locally at extra cost). You'll need moderate fitness for cycling three days; the route is flat but covers distance. Public transport reaches Auburn to start. Minimum age 18 for wine tastings. The 3-star Auburn digs are comfortable; Clare's 4-star offers more polish.
