What to expect
You'll be picked up early and driven to Latengaya, the ride's starting point on Mount Batur's slopes. After a thorough safety talk and gear check, you'll mount a sturdy 200cc quad bike and spend two hours exploring the raw volcanic landscape—think jet-black sand, lava formations, and steep descents. The pace is moderate; instructors stay with you throughout. Afterwards, you'll head to the natural hot spring to cool off and ease tired muscles in warm mineral water. Lunch happens at a local restaurant where you can try several varieties of Kintamani coffee before heading back to your hotel.
Good to know
Bring a swimsuit and towel for the hot spring. Wear long trousers and closed shoes for the ride. The terrain is rough; this isn't suitable if you have back problems, are pregnant, or have heart conditions. Moderate fitness required. Protective gear is provided.
