What to expect
You'll start before dawn, trekking uphill for roughly 1.5 hours with your guide. The path is steep but manageable; headtorches help. At the summit, watch the sky lighten and eat a simple breakfast—eggs buried in hot sand, roasted bananas—whilst taking in the view. The descent takes another hour, slower and steadier. By mid-morning you'll reach the hot springs: two pools fed by geothermal water, mineral-rich and genuinely hot. Wade in to ease sore legs, or swim and canoe if you prefer. Plan on 90 minutes here before the return journey to your hotel.
Good to know
Bring trekking shoes and a torch. The climb is moderate but sustained; poor fitness or cardiovascular issues may struggle. Pregnant travellers and those with spinal problems should skip this. Lunch isn't covered—eat beforehand or pack snacks. Mineral water provided; wear layers as sunrise is cool.
