What to expect
Start with a pre-dawn hotel collection in Alice Springs, then head south in air-conditioned comfort for a four-hour drive. On arrival, your accredited guide leads two separate walking routes—the Mala Walk covers roughly 2 kilometres with geological and cultural commentary, while the Mutitjulu Waterhole visit is shorter and more contemplative. Mid-afternoon, pause at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre to absorb Anangu stories and art. As the sun dips, settle in for a hearty barbecue feast with sparkling wine, watching the rock shift from rust to deep purple. The return journey reaches Alice Springs around 10 p.m.
Good to know
Pack a 1.5-litre water bottle, hat, sunglasses and high-SPF sunscreen; the rock is exposed and unforgiving. Wear sturdy, gripped walking shoes. From April 2026, purchase your park pass online beforehand (digital version acceptable). Hotel pick-up and drop-off included; park fees covered until March 2026.
