What to expect

Expect to move around daily—no lounging by a pool for a week. Mornings often start early (4 a.m. for dolphin spotting, 6 a.m. for volcano hikes). You'll eat well: breakfasts at your lodging, dinners ranging from beachfront spots to village kitchens where you've cooked alongside locals. Transport is smooth; your driver knows the roads and can chat about what you're passing. Physically, you need to be comfortable walking uneven terrain, climbing steps, and standing for 2–3 hours at a stretch. The pace is deliberate rather than rushed—time to absorb the island rather than tick boxes.
