What to expect

Your driver will collect you from your hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. You'll start at a local market where your instructor will guide you through selecting ingredients – explaining which vendors sell the best produce and how Balinese cooks choose their staples. Back at the cooking school, you'll work through recipes at your own pace, learning techniques like spice grinding and traditional cooking methods. Expect to spend two to three hours in the kitchen depending on what you're making. Once finished, you'll eat together, tasting your work and discussing the dishes. The whole outing is unhurried; if you want to visit a temple or viewpoint beforehand or afterwards, your driver can wait or return at an agreed time.

Good to know

Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and avoid exposed skin when visiting temples. Extra time beyond your booked duration costs 1,000 yen per hour. Class availability varies by morning or afternoon – confirm when booking. Temple entry fees, parking, and tips are not included. The tour doesn't run around Nyepi (Balinese New Year).
