What to expect

You'll be collected from your hotel at 7:30am and driven to a traditional market still busy with locals. Your cook-guide walks you through stalls, explaining ingredients and letting you handle produce destined for your kitchen. Back at the open-air cooking space, you'll work through six recipes, hands-on—chopping pastes, tempering spices, mastering the balance of sweet, savoury and hot that defines Balinese food. Expect to sweat a little; the kitchen's warm. By late morning, your dishes are plated and you sit down to eat what you've made, with water and welcome refreshments provided. A certificate marks the occasion before the driver takes you back.

Classes start 7:30–8:00am. Plan six hours total including transport. Groups cap at six per booking but may share a class with others up to twelve. Young children welcome; infants need a lap or pram.
