What to expect
Your skipper collects the group at 10:30 a.m. and heads out along the Basque shoreline. The boat carries a maximum of seven or eight, so you feel the crew's attention throughout. You'll motor to calm anchorages where the water is transparent enough for mask-and-snorkel work—equipment's on board. Mid-day, you beach on an isolated stretch and eat local charcuterie, cheese, and bread with wine or pastis. After lunch, cruise the bay near Saint Jean de Luz, watching for cetaceans if conditions favour them. Return by 5:30 p.m.
