What to expect

You'll board a 4x4 and set off into the heart of France's largest wetland reserve. The vehicle bounces across dirt tracks, stopping frequently so your guide can point out fauna and flora specific to each habitat—marshland birds, wetland plants, and occasionally the famous white horses and dark bulls the region's known for. Lunch happens around midday at a simple spot, often with views across the water. The afternoon loop covers different terrain: rice paddies in season, shallower ponds, working ranches. It's dusty, bumpy, and exposure is constant—bring sunscreen and a hat. Expect to see a lot, photograph a lot, and finish tired but satisfied.

Good to know

Not suitable if you have spinal issues or are pregnant due to vehicle movement. Infant seats available on request. Bring water, sun protection, and a camera with a good zoom. Public transport reaches the departure point. Dust and heat mean casual, breathable clothing works best.
