This 90-minute experience on Australia's South Australian coast pairs education with tasting, guided by farm staff who explain growing methods and farming practices. What to expect
You'll change into waterproof waders (bring socks to ease the process) and wade into shallow bay waters alongside your guide. The walk to the Salt Water Pavilion takes you through active farming grounds where you'll see nets and infrastructure up close. Once seated at the pavilion, staff explain oyster biology, harvest cycles, and sustainability practices whilst you watch the working farm operate around you. The tasting follows—oysters shucked fresh and served at your table. Between explanations, scan the water for marine life; seals and dolphins are regular visitors. Total time in water is roughly an hour.
Good to know
Bring socks, hat or jacket depending on season, and a camera. Wear comfortable clothes underneath waders. Declare any seafood allergies beforehand. Coffin Bay township offers better accommodation than Port Lincoln. Service animals welcome. Public transport nearby. Infants sit on an adult's lap.
