What to expect
You'll spend the morning at the dive centre with classroom briefing and shallow-water drills in calm conditions. Your instructor walks you through regulator breathing, mask clearing, and staying neutral underwater—all essential before heading to the reef. Once confident, you'll complete two open-water dives in the marine park at depths up to 12 metres, spotting reef fish and coral formations. The pace is deliberately gentle; expect stops for reassurance and technique checks throughout. By day's end you'll have logged genuine bottom time and understanding of what diving actually feels like.
Good to know
Moderate fitness required; avoid if pregnant, with spinal injuries, or poor heart health. Menjangan National Park entrance is 200,000 IDR weekdays, 300,000 IDR weekends—added at the dive centre. Photos and videos cost extra. Warung on-site for lunch but bring spending money. Arrive early to allow time for paperwork.
