You'll trek roughly 5 km over two to two-and-a-half hours, passing viewpoints across the plateau and a vulture reintroduction project, before finishing at a working distillery for syrup tasting and a chat about the still. What to expect
Your guide meets you and sets off on a mixed trail through working lavender plots, scrubland and open grassland with sweeping views of the Vercors. Expect stops to discuss what's growing, why it matters ecologically, and how the local economy depends on it—this isn't a stroll past pretty fields. You'll pause at the vulture site to observe and learn how the reintroduction programme works. The final stretch brings you downhill to the distillery building, where you sit down with a cold glass of their lavender syrup (made with spring water from the massif) while the operator explains the copper still and fermentation process. It's unhurried and genuinely interested in sharing.
