About this tour
Slip across the border into Italy's Liguria region on this seven-and-a-half-hour small-group excursion from Nice. Start at San Remo's sprawling open-air markets, where vendors hawk produce, flowers and local goods, then tour the city's centre with a guide. After, wind inland to Dolceacqua, a medieval hilltop village with narrow lanes, galleries, castle ruins and lunch spots. Eight people maximum keeps things intimate and manageable. Transport is handled by air-conditioned minivan with hotel or port collection included.

What to expect
You'll spend roughly two hours at San Remo's markets with your guide pointing out the action and history, then another hour exploring the city proper. After, it's a 30-minute drive to Dolceacqua, where you have two to three hours unguided. The village is compact—steep cobbled lanes lead up to the castle. Bring comfortable shoes. Lunch isn't included, but trattorias line the main piazza. The drive back to Nice takes about 90 minutes.
Good to know
Bring water and sensible walking shoes; pavements are uneven. A passport is required. Gratuity isn't included but is customary. Children and infants can join; folding wheelchairs are accommodated. Public buses serve the area if you need flexibility.
