What to expect

You'll arrive at the temple entrance and be shown to the purification grounds, a natural spring area within the compound. After changing into a sarong, you'll wade into cool spring water and follow the guide's instructions for the cleansing ritual—pouring water over yourself and moving through designated areas. The guide explains the spiritual significance of each action. Water temperature and depth vary. You'll finish by rinsing off and changing back into your clothes. The entire ritual takes roughly an hour, including preparation and explanation.

Good to know

Bring dry clothes, underwear, and a towel. Wear shoulder-covering tops and shorts or skirts above the knee. Those menstruating cannot participate but can reschedule.
