What to expect

You'll be picked up before dawn for a bumpy but exhilarating drive up Mount Batur's slopes in a purpose-built 4WD. The jeep navigates rough tracks, gaining altitude as the sky lightens. On arrival at the crater rim, the sun breaks across the landscape—the payoff for the early start. Breakfast follows: a simple spread of banana sandwich, boiled egg, fresh fruit and hot drinks, often prepared over the volcanic ground itself. After eating and exploring the volcanic terrain, you'll descend to natural hot springs fed by geothermal activity. A dip here lets you recover before the return journey.
