What to expect
You'll be picked up at 1:30 AM for the drive to Mount Batur's base. The trek takes roughly two hours uphill in darkness with your guide; headlamps and steady pace are standard. Reaching the summit around sunrise, you'll catch the light spreading across Bali's landscape whilst your guide prepares a light breakfast using geothermal heat. After descending and a change of clothes, you transition to the river. Rafting the Telaga Waja demands focus—the rapids are genuine whitewater, technical in places, with moments of calmer drifting between them. Expect to get soaked and tired; lunch and a shower facility await afterwards before your return.
