About this tour
Climb Mount Batur in darkness to reach the summit as dawn breaks over Bali's volcanic landscape. A local guide leads the ascent, sharing stories of the region whilst you cook breakfast directly in the geothermal sand—eggs and bananas cook themselves in minutes. After descending through morning mist, soak your tired legs in natural hot springs heated deep underground, their mineral-rich waters ready to ease muscles worked hard on the trek. The full experience takes ten hours and includes transport, guidance, entrance fees and breakfast.
Highlights
- Summit arrival timed for sunrise views across Bali
- Cook breakfast in geothermal sand at the peak
- Descend through quiet volcanic terrain with local insight
- Two natural hot pools fed by underground thermal sources

What to expect
You'll start before dawn, climbing steadily for roughly two hours alongside your guide. The path is well-trodden but uneven; a torch helps. Once light arrives, the summit reveals itself—islands visible on clear days, the crater below. Breakfast happens here: you bury eggs and fruit in hot sand, they cook whilst you watch. The descent takes longer, gentler on joints. You'll arrive at the hot springs mid-morning, still warm from exertion. The pools sit at different temperatures; the cooler one suits swimming, the hotter one pure soaking. Allow time to dry and change before heading back.
Good to know
Start time is early—typically 1–2 AM pickup. Bring a torch, sturdy shoes with grip, and a light jacket for the summit cold. The trek suits most fitness levels but avoid it if you have spinal, cardiac or pregnancy concerns. Lunch isn't included; eat beforehand or pack snacks.
