What to expect

You'll leave your hotel well before dawn and drive to the trailhead, where your guide hands you a torch and sets the pace up the dark volcanic slope. The trek takes roughly two hours of steady climbing—steep in sections but manageable for those with decent fitness. You'll reach the summit as light breaks, with time to catch the full sunrise and explore the crater area. The temperature drops significantly at altitude, so bring layers.
