What to expect

You'll start early with pickup from your hotel, then spend the morning hopping between craft workshops where you can watch artisans at work—batik artists at looms, silversmiths at anvils, sculptors shaping wood. The Batuan Temple is ornately carved throughout, a working place of worship. Mid-morning takes you to Tegenungan Waterfall, where you can wade in the natural pools if you wish. The afternoon shifts to landscape: Tegalalang's rice paddies offer phenomenal photo angles, whilst the Monkey Forest is genuinely wild—these aren't tame animals, so keep distance and secure loose items. You'll end in Ubud's compact downtown, browsing local goods before the drive back.

Good to know

Wear trainers with grip for waterfall pools and forest paths. Bring sun protection and a hat. Lunch isn't included, though Ubud town has abundant options. The monkeys are habituated but unpredictable; follow sanctuary staff guidance. Prams work on main paths but rough terrain exists.
