What to expect

You'll depart for Dryandra Woodlands, a working conservation area south of Perth where rare marsupials roam freely. Your guide leads you on foot through eucalypt forest, pointing out feeding animals as light fades. Expect slow-paced walking and patient waiting—these creatures are genuinely wild, not tame. Around dusk the group gathers at a clearing where your guide fires up the barbecue, grilling beef or chicken while kangaroos graze nearby. After dinner you'll walk again under starlight, spotting nocturnal feeders. The final leg takes you to an open farm paddock for constellation-spotting before returning to Perth.

Good to know

Sanctuary entry fees aren't included. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a jumper—nights get cool. The walk suits all fitness levels but isn't suitable for children under six. Let organisers know dietary needs in advance. Tap water available on the bus; bring a refillable bottle.
