What to expect

You'll travel through coastal woodland before arriving at the Pinnacles Desert's otherworldly terrain—thousands of pale limestone shafts rising from rust-coloured sand. The landscape shifts dramatically depending on light and time of day, rewarding those who stay awhile. At the Desert Discovery Centre, interpretive displays explain how these formations developed and their significance to the Noongar people. Depending on remaining daylight and your interests, your guide can incorporate nearby attractions: sandboarding at Lancelin, walking through Yanchep National Park's jarrah forest, or visiting coastal viewpoints. The journey back allows time for reflection on the day's contrasts.

Bring sun protection and sturdy shoes for sandy terrain. Lunch isn't included—several options exist nearby, or pack your own. Sandboard hire costs extra. Yanchep entry fees apply separately.
