What to expect

You'll depart Sorrento and drive towards the volcano, catching glimpses of the Bay of Naples en route. At Vesuvius, you'll walk uphill through volcanic soil to the summit, spending time at the crater. After descending, lunch break and transfer to Pompeii occur. An archaeologist then walks you through the site for two hours, pointing out domestic spaces, public buildings and the layers of ash that froze daily life. Expect moderate physical exertion on the Vesuvius ascent and considerable walking at Pompeii itself.

Bring valid ID and comfortable walking boots. The skip-the-line option doesn't work on the first Sunday of each month due to Pompeii's ticketing policy. Food and drinks aren't included. Cancellation may occur if minimum passenger numbers aren't met; you'll receive an alternative date or refund.
