What to expect

You'll be collected from your accommodation and driven north through bocage countryside toward the coast. At Utah Beach, you'll spend time at the museum examining landing craft models, uniforms and photographs before stepping onto the actual beach where the American 4th Division came ashore. The mood is reflective—many visitors stand quietly, absorbing the scale of what happened. After lunch (on your own), you'll drive south-west toward the Mont. Arriving in late afternoon, a professional guide will take you inside the Abbey, explaining the Romanesque and Flamboyant Gothic architecture, the cloisters and the centuries of monastic life. The light often improves for photography as evening approaches.

Good to know
