What to expect
Your instructor will start on the beach, teaching you board positioning and the mechanics of the pop-up before you enter the water. In the shallows, you'll practise the movement repeatedly until it feels natural. Once in deeper water, you'll paddle into position, learn how to read incoming sets, and attempt to catch waves. Expect to paddle a lot—your arms will feel it. The instructor stays close, offering in-the-moment corrections and encouragement.
