What to expect

You'll be picked up from your hotel and driven out to the winery, roughly 30 minutes outside central Rome. Once there, a family member or longtime employee walks you through their collection—expect to spend 90 minutes tasting and asking questions. They'll explain what makes each wine different: soil, vintage, how long it aged. Between tastings, you'll nibble on cheese, cured meats, or bread. The pace is relaxed; there's no script, just genuine conversation. You'll see the cellar and maybe the vineyard if time allows. Afterwards, you're driven back to your accommodation.

Good to know

Wear comfortable shoes—some cellars have uneven stone floors. Eat a light meal before you go; wine on an empty stomach hits different. If you're not a big drinker, let them know and they'll pour smaller tastes. Public transport to the winery is possible if you'd rather skip the private car.
