About this tour
Spend ten hours exploring three outer reef sites from Port Douglas aboard the Silversonic, a full-service dive and snorkel vessel. Whether you're testing scuba for the first time or logging dives, the reef's coral gardens and fish species reveal themselves across multiple stops. The crew guides snorkellers through the shallows while divers descend to deeper walls. Lunch and hot drinks anchor the day between sites, with fresh water showers and sun decks for recovery time.
Highlights
- Three separate reef sites in a single day
- Guided snorkel tour with marine naturalist
- Introductory scuba available for ages 12+
- Tropical buffet lunch and tea service included
- Boat pickup from Port Douglas accommodation
What to expect
The boat departs early and carries you past the inner reef to deeper, less-visited outer walls where coral diversity peaks. Snorkellers enter the water first, following the naturalist through shallow zones thick with parrotfish and wrasse. Divers drop to 12–18 metres on guided descents, timing their bottom time between rest intervals on deck. The pace is unhurried; you'll spend 45–60 minutes at each site. Between sites, crew serve hot food and drinks while you rinse off and dry in the sun. The return journey gives time to recover before reaching port by late afternoon.
Good to know
Moderate fitness required; cardiovascular conditions may disqualify you. Scuba participants complete a health form; some medical histories (asthma, heart issues) prevent diving—check with your doctor first. Wetsuit hire costs extra. Allow 12 hours before flying after one dive, 24 hours after multiple dives.
