What to expect

You'll arrive at a family farm and compound in the Ubud hills, away from the main tourist drag. After a warm welcome, you'll walk the paddies and pick ingredients for dinner—whatever's ready that day. Back in the open-sided kitchen or dining space, you'll cook alongside family members or watch them work, asking questions as you go. Dinner is generous and unhurried; expect rice, vegetables, perhaps chicken or fish, and the flavours of home cooking rather than restaurant refinement. As dark settles, you'll step into the adjacent fields to catch the firefly display—thousands of tiny lights blinking in sync. The whole experience feels informal and low-key.

Good to know

Arrange your own transport to the farm; the tour doesn't include pickup. Wear sturdy shoes for muddy farm paths and long trousers to guard against insects. Bring a torch if you have one. Not suitable if pregnant, recovering from spine injuries, or managing serious heart conditions. Infants must stay on a lap.
