What to expect
You'll meet your guide at Ayers Rock Resort and travel by coach to the established viewing platform on Uluru's western face. Once there, glasses are poured and nibbles passed around as you watch the sun dip below the horizon. The monolith's colour palette deepens and shifts—reds bleeding to purples, then near-black—over roughly 20 minutes. Your guide will talk through the landscape and its Aboriginal significance. It's quieter than peak season crowds but still genuinely busy. The light fades fairly quickly after sunset, so bring a jumper for the cooling evening.
Good to know
National Park entry (AUD38 adults, free children) is separate and valid three days. Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to walk around the viewing area. The coach is climate-controlled but the outdoor platform can be windy. Bring sunscreen for the afternoon wait.
