Watch the sun dip below the horizon from a mountainous vantage point whilst sipping Cava, then spend the night scanning the heavens from 2000 metres elevation in Spain's Canary Islands. Small groups of up to eight people travel by minibus to escape cloud cover and light pollution, where expert guides point out constellations using laser pointers and unlock the Greek myths woven through the stars. You'll peer through telescopes at galaxies, nebulae and planets, and leave with a professional astrophotography portrait of yourself beneath the night sky.

What to expect

Your minibus collects you from accommodation and climbs to a high-altitude clearing facing west. As light fades, you'll watch the sun set across the Atlantic towards neighbouring islands whilst raising a glass of sparkling wine. Once darkness settles, your guide uses a laser pointer to navigate the sky, naming constellations and recounting ancient Greek tales tied to each formation. You'll take turns peering through large telescopes at deep-sky objects—distant star clusters, glowing nebulae, visible planets. Throughout the night, a specialist photographer captures images of you gazing upwards, providing a keepsake of the experience.
